PlayExch Mobile Guide – Secure Your Phone Before You Play

Most of our players use PlayExch on a phone, so this PlayExch mobile guide is about the phone itself, not the site. Think about what sits on that one device: the WhatsApp chat where your ID was created, your login details, your UPI apps and the SMS inbox that receives bank OTPs. If someone gets into the phone, or takes over your SIM or WhatsApp, they can reach all of it. The steps below take about twenty minutes and work on any Android phone or iPhone. Why Your Phone Is the Real Key to Your Account

On PlayExch, your WhatsApp number is how our team recognises you. Password resets, deposit questions and withdrawal requests all go through that chat. That makes your WhatsApp account almost as important as your password. A person who controls your WhatsApp can message support as you. A person who reads your SMS can see bank OTPs. So the order of priority is:

1. Lock the phone itself.
2. Lock WhatsApp with two-step verification.
3. Make sure no app is reading your SMS.
4. Know the signs of a SIM swap.
5. Have a plan ready in case the phone is lost.

Step 1: A Proper Screen Lock

A swipe-to-open phone is an open door. Anyone who picks it up at a party, in an office or at a repair shop can open WhatsApp and your browser in seconds.

• Use a PIN of six digits or more, or a password. Avoid 123456, your birth year or your vehicle number.
• Add fingerprint or face unlock for convenience, but keep a strong PIN behind it.
• Set auto-lock to 30 seconds or one minute. A phone that stays unlocked for ten minutes on a table is easy to misuse.
• Hide notification content on the lock screen. Otherwise OTPs and WhatsApp messages can be read without unlocking the phone. Android: Settings → Notifications → lock screen options. iPhone: Settings → Notifications → Show Previews → When Unlocked.

If you give your phone for repair, log out of the browser and remove the screen lock only for as long as the shop truly needs it. Better still, back up and reset it if the repair allows.

Step 2: WhatsApp Two-Step Verification

This is the single most valuable setting in this guide. Without it, anyone who gets the six-digit SMS code that WhatsApp sends during registration can move your WhatsApp to their own phone. Scammers try to get that code by calling or messaging with a story: “I sent my code to your number by mistake, please forward it.” With two-step verification turned on, the code alone is not enough. They would also need a PIN that only you know.

How to turn it on:

1. Open WhatsApp and go to Settings.
2. Tap Account, then Two-step verification.
3. Tap Turn on and choose a six-digit PIN that is different from your phone lock and UPI PIN.
4. Add an email address you can access, so you can reset the PIN if you forget it.

While you are in WhatsApp settings, also check Linked devices. If you see a computer or browser you do not recognise, log it out. Someone with a linked device can read your chats, including the one with our team.

Step 3: Google Play Protect and Unknown Apps (Android)

Many account takeovers in India start with a fake app. It arrives as an APK file in a Telegram group or a WhatsApp forward with a name like “PlayExch Pro”, “fast ID app” or “KYC update”. Once installed, it asks for SMS access and quietly forwards your OTPs. PlayExch does not need any APK. It runs in your browser, as our app page explains.

• Check Play Protect is on: open the Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Play Protect. Make sure scanning is turned on and run a scan.
• Block unknown installs: go to Settings and search “Install unknown apps”. For WhatsApp, Telegram, Chrome and your file manager, make sure this is set to Not allowed.
• Remove apps you do not recognise: if you see an app with no icon, a generic name or one you do not remember installing, uninstall it.

On iPhone, apps can only come from the App Store under normal use, which removes most of this risk. Do not accept “profiles” or “certificates” that someone asks you to install through Settings to run a special app.

Step 4: Check Which Apps Can Read Your SMS

Your SMS inbox holds bank OTPs and the WhatsApp registration code. Very few apps need to read it. On Android:

1. Open Settings and search for Permission manager (sometimes under Security & privacy → Privacy).
2. Tap SMS.
3. Look at the list of apps marked Allowed.

Your messaging app should be there. Most other apps should not. A game, wallpaper app, “cleaner” or anything betting-related with SMS access is a serious warning. Set it to Don't allow and uninstall it. While you are there, also check Accessibility settings. Malware often asks for accessibility access so it can read the screen and tap buttons by itself.

Step 5: Learn the Warning Signs of a SIM Swap

In a SIM swap, a fraudster convinces a shop or agent to issue a new SIM for your number. Your phone loses signal and their phone starts receiving your calls, SMS and OTPs. They can then register your WhatsApp on their phone.

Once your line is back, message our team so we know a SIM issue happened before anyone uses your number to ask about your ID.

Step 6: If Your Phone Is Lost or Stolen

Do these in order. Speed matters most in the first hour.

1. Block the SIM. Call your operator from another phone and ask for the SIM to be blocked and a replacement issued.
2. Block UPI and bank access. Call your bank's helpline and ask them to block UPI and mobile banking until you have a new phone.
3. Lock or erase the phone remotely. Android: use Google's Find Hub (earlier called Find My Device) from another device. iPhone: use Find My from another Apple device or iCloud.
4. Tell PlayExch support. From a family member's phone or your new SIM, message our team. Ask for your password to be reset and for any active sessions on your ID to be logged out. Answer the questions the team asks to confirm it is you.
5. Get WhatsApp back. Once you have the replacement SIM, set up WhatsApp on a new phone with the same number. This logs the old phone out of WhatsApp.
6. Report it. File a police complaint for the lost or stolen phone. You can also block the handset through the government's Sanchar Saathi service. For any fraud, call 1930 or report on cybercrime.gov.in.

After this, change your PlayExch password again from the new phone, and check your bet history and balance. Let the team know straight away if anything looks wrong.

• WhatsApp → Linked devices: any devices you do not recognise?
• SMS permission list: any new apps?
• Play Protect: any warnings?
• Phone and browser: any pending updates?
