PlayExch Deposit Guide – UTR Numbers, Screenshots and Missing Credits

Where to find the UTR in your UPI app, what a useful payment screenshot shows, and what to do when money leaves your bank but does not reach your ID.

A PlayExch deposit has two halves. First you pay from your own UPI app or bank account. Then you prove that payment to our team so it can be matched to your ID. The first half is fast. The second half is where most delays happen, and nearly always for the same reason: the team cannot see which payment is yours. This guide is about that second half. It shows where to find the UTR number in the apps most people use, what a screenshot needs to show, and how to tell a bank-side failure from a payment that reached us but has not been credited yet. If you do not have an ID yet, start with the registration steps and come back here before your first payment.

The Short Version: What to Send After Every Deposit

Ask in the official WhatsApp chat for the current payment details. Pay from an account in your own name. Then send these three things back in the same chat, in one message if you can:

  1. The amount, written as a number, for example ₹2,000.
  2. A clear screenshot of the completed payment.
  3. The UTR or UPI reference number, typed out as text.

Why type the UTR when it is already in the screenshot? Because screenshots get cropped, blurred or compressed by WhatsApp, and a single misread digit sends the team looking for the wrong payment. Typed text can be copied and searched in seconds. It is a small habit that saves a lot of back-and-forth.

What a UTR Is and Why It Matters

UTR stands for Unique Transaction Reference. Every UPI, IMPS, NEFT or RTGS payment in India gets one. Think of it as the payment's fingerprint. Two people can both send ₹1,000 at 9:42 pm, but they will never share a UTR.

That is exactly why we ask for it. Many players deposit similar round amounts at similar times, especially just before an IPL match starts. Names on bank statements are often shortened or cut off. The UTR is the only detail that points to one payment and nothing else. For a UPI payment, it is normally a 12-digit number. NEFT and RTGS references look different: they are longer and usually mix letters and numbers. If you paid by bank transfer, send whatever reference your bank shows.

Where to Find the UTR in Your Payment App

App screens change with updates, and the label is not always called “UTR”. The path is almost always the same, though: open the payment history, tap the transaction, and look in its details. Here is what to look for in the common apps:

AppWhere to lookLabel you may see
Google PayOpen the chat or history entry for the payment, tap it, and scroll the payment detailsUPI transaction ID
PhonePeHistory, then tap the transaction to open its full detailsUTR or transaction ID (use the UTR)
PaytmBalance & History or the payment entry, then open the transaction detailsUPI Ref No.
Bank app or net bankingAccount statement or transaction history; open the entry or read its description lineReference number, or a 12-digit number inside text like “UPI/…/”
BHIM and other UPI appsTransaction history, then the payment's detailsUPI reference or RRN

Some apps show both a long app-specific order or transaction ID and a separate 12-digit UPI reference. If you see two numbers and are unsure, send both and say which app you used. Most apps also let you long-press the number to copy it, which avoids typing errors.

What a Useful Payment Screenshot Shows

A screenshot is supporting proof, not a replacement for the UTR. Still, a good one speeds things up. Before you send it, check that it includes all of these:

  • The word “Successful” or “Completed”, not “Pending” or “Processing”.
  • The exact amount paid.
  • The date and time of the payment.
  • The receiver's name or UPI ID, so the team can see it went to the details they gave you.
  • The UTR or UPI reference, uncropped.

Avoid photos of your screen taken with another phone, edited images and screenshots of the payment entry screen before you pressed pay. Do not crop out the time to hide a notification bar; just take the screenshot again. You never need to show your UPI PIN, your account balance or your full account number, so cover those if they appear.

Money Debited but Not Credited: Two Very Different Situations

“My bank says the money is gone but my ID balance has not changed” is the deposit message we see most. It can mean two quite different things, and the fix depends on which one you are in.

Failed at the bankReached us, not yet on your ID
What your app showsFailed, Pending, or Declined, sometimes with “amount will be refunded”Successful, with a UTR
Where the money isStuck between banks; it never reached the receiverIn the receiving account, waiting to be matched
Who fixes itYour bank, through an automatic reversalOur team, once they can match the UTR
What you doWait for the reversal; raise it with your bank if it does not arriveSend amount, screenshot and UTR to the official chat

When the payment failed at the bank

If your UPI app says the payment failed or is still pending, our team cannot credit it, because the money has not arrived. In these cases the bank reverses the debit on its own. The Reserve Bank of India's framework on turnaround time for failed transactions says that a failed UPI payment, where your account was debited but the receiver was not credited, should be auto-reversed by the next working day after the transaction (T+1). The same framework also provides for compensation from the bank when it misses that deadline.

So the right move is to wait for the reversal, not to pay again straight away. If you pay a second time while the first payment is still “pending”, you may end up with one reversal and one real deposit, or two deposits, and the picture gets confusing for everyone. If the reversal does not arrive by the next working day, use the dispute or complaint option inside your UPI app, or contact your bank with the UTR.

When the payment succeeded but your ID was not credited

This one is ours to fix. If your app shows “Successful” and a UTR, the money reached the receiving account. What is missing is the match. Send the amount, screenshot and UTR in the official chat. If you already sent them, reply to your own earlier message so the team sees the full context, rather than starting a new thread. Our support page explains what to include for other kinds of problems too.

Only Pay to Details From the Official Chat

Payment details can change from time to time, which is why we ask you to request them each time instead of reusing an old screenshot. That same fact is what scammers exploit. They message players claiming that “the account has changed” and share a new UPI ID or QR code. Some even use our name and a copied profile picture.

The rule is simple. Only pay to details that our team gave you, in the official chat you opened from a button on this site. Treat any of these as a warning sign:

  • A new number messages you first with payment details.
  • Someone in a Telegram or WhatsApp group offers “faster deposits” through their own UPI ID.
  • You are asked for an OTP, a UPI PIN, or to install a screen-sharing app to “confirm” a deposit.
  • You are told to send a “collect request” approval. A genuine deposit is a payment you start; you never need to approve a request to receive money.

If you are unsure, stop and ask in the official chat before you pay. A payment sent to the wrong person cannot be credited to your ID. If you lose money to a fraud, report it quickly on the national cybercrime helpline 1930 or at cybercrime.gov.in, and tell your bank. Our article on checking that you are talking to the real team lists more signs to look for.

Keep a Simple Deposit Log

You do not need an app for this. A note on your phone or a page in a notebook is enough. Write one line per deposit:

Date and timeAmountPaid fromUTRCredited?
12 Oct, 7:15 pm₹2,000Own SBI account via UPI12-digit numberYes, 7:30 pm
18 Oct, 9:40 pm₹1,500Own SBI account via UPI12-digit numberAsked support, credited next morning

The rows above are a made-up example of the format, not real timings.

A log does three useful things. It gives you every UTR in one place if a question comes up later. It shows you exactly how much you have put in this week or month, which is easy to lose track of during a busy cricket season. And it makes it easier to stick to a limit, because the total is staring at you. The same log works for withdrawals; our withdrawal guide explains that side.

Common Deposit Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

  • Paying from a friend's or relative's account. The name will not match your ID, and it can also complicate a later withdrawal. Use your own account.
  • Sending only a screenshot. Always type the UTR as well.
  • Paying again because the first payment says “pending”. Wait for it to settle or reverse first.
  • Reusing old payment details. Ask for the current details each time.
  • Depositing in a rush before the toss. The chat is busiest just before big matches. Add money earlier if you plan to play.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a UTR number on a PlayExch deposit?

UTR stands for Unique Transaction Reference. Your bank or UPI app creates it for every payment. For UPI it is usually a 12-digit number. Our team uses it to match your payment to your ID, so send it as typed text along with your screenshot.

Where do I find the UTR in Google Pay, PhonePe or Paytm?

Open your payment history, tap the transaction and look in its details. Google Pay usually labels it UPI transaction ID, PhonePe shows a UTR, and Paytm shows UPI Ref No. In a bank app, check the transaction details or the statement description.

Money left my bank but my PlayExch balance has not changed. What now?

Check the status in your payment app. If it says failed or pending, the money did not reach us and your bank should reverse it; RBI guidance asks for failed UPI debits to be reversed by the next working day. If it says successful, send the amount, screenshot and UTR to the official chat so we can match it.

Should I pay again if my first payment shows pending?

No. Wait until it shows either successful or failed. Paying twice while the first payment is still pending often leads to confusion over which payment arrived and which was reversed.

Can I deposit from someone else's account?

Please do not. Pay from a UPI ID or bank account in your own name. A different name makes the payment harder to match and can cause problems when you later withdraw.

Someone sent me new payment details on WhatsApp. Are they genuine?

Only trust payment details given to you in the official chat you opened from a button on this site. If a new number messages you first with a UPI ID or QR code, do not pay. Ask in the official chat instead.

Is there a minimum deposit amount?

Ask our team in the chat for the current deposit details, including any minimum. We do not list fixed amounts on the site because they can change.

Summary

Ask for current details in the official chat, pay from your own account, and send the amount, a clear screenshot and the typed UTR. If your app says the payment failed, wait for your bank's reversal. If it says successful, the UTR is all we need to find it. Keep a short log, and keep every deposit inside the limit you set before the week began.
